Writing every day

photoI have started writing again.

Let me start that again.

I have started writing for no apparent reason again.

This is unusual behaviour for me. I am very much a purposeful writer. I have projects. Lots and lots of projects. I am always writing something, be it a feature article, a corporate whatnot, a blog post, a novel, a newsletter, a thing.

But last week, apropos of nothing, I opened a word document and just started writing. Stuff. Nothing in particular. Thoughts, memories, impressions, images, imaginings. And I’ve been adding to it every day. Just a few hundred words at a time.

I don’t think it’s for anything.

It’s not a project. It’s not even a thing.

Just writing.

But when I do it, I feel kind of like that duck in the picture. Zooming along, with my mouth wide open, bubbling up.

It’s probably not pretty to watch.

Do you write for no apparent reason?
